UBSR presents: 4th Annual Each One Teach One –Black Students Leadership Conference
“My name is Nichola Deslandes and I am a member of the United Black Students at Ryerson student group executive team at Ryerson University.
The United Black Students at Ryerson (UBSR) will be holding its 4th Annual Each One Teach One –Black Students Leadership Conference, to be hosted at Ryerson University on Friday November 2nd2012 from 8:30 am to 3:30pm and I was hoping you would be generous enough to assist us in getting the word out to TDSB students about this amazing opportunity.
With a central pillar of Mentorship, the Each One – Teach One Conference is a daylong event, specifically catered to Black marginalized high school students. This conference is designed to increase the level of insight and aspiration towards post-secondary options, and to provide much needed encouragement and information on active youth civic and community engagement from some of Ryerson University (and arguably all of Toronto’s) most politically and socially engaged students.
UBSR recognizes the importance of building the capacity and Social Capital of our community by assisting and equipping younger generations with the tools, information, and mentorship they need to succeed with regards to their educational and career aspirations. The Each One – Teach One Conference is one channel to accomplish this objective.
As in previous years, this event is entirely FREE, and all attendees will receive lunch, prizes, and a certificate of recognition for their leadership engagement. We hope the enclosed information package will encourage you to take part in this year’s Each one teach One: Black Students Conference.”
*Attached is a more detailed outline for this event as well as a Registration Form for interested students.
We encourage each school to limit the number of student delegates to 10 -15 students to encourage a diversity of school attendees, perspectives, and a fruitful opportunity for networking.
